I've been working on redesigning this character from an old, old drawing (dtconfect.deviantart.com/art/F…
over the last could of weeks, in-between studying anatomy, eyes, and other goings on. There are other intermediate sketches I've not uploaded here, but this one is pretty much final.
I tried to simplify things so she'd be easier to draw more often, so I've removed the fish-skeleton choker, the octopus-patterned dress, and her hair rolls completely. I actually spent a good while coming up with a better hairdo and I'm pretty pleased with what I ended up with.
Also put some effort into developing the clothes into something more fleshed out and particular, as this will help with repeated drawing too. This meant paying attention to how parts fit together, how they sit upon her body, and what they actually are.
I unified the leggings and mid-section into a wetsuit because I liked the sense of unity this gave the outfit, and, moved the little circles off of the 'corset' area, and onto the skirt and jacket. White stripes up the back and front of the wetsuit on the body and legs help to highlight that it is in fact the same garment, and hopefully hint at the material/texture. I guess the bottom of the jacket and top of the skirt fasten onto the wetsuit using hidden hooks or something to help keep them in place.
The umbrella... still needs work.
Also FYI: The 'jabot' is the frilly white flair on her chest. I like it. Consider it final.
